Lovers of the Val d'Amour

Discover the lower Loue valley, with its "mortes" (former arms of the river), its landscapes and its historic and built heritage, including the Château de Clairvans.

At the "Chamblay" sign, cross the main road in front of the school, go right for 50 m and take the road on the left, going straight on at "Grand Creux".

At the sign for "Sur la levée", turn right towards "Port au Bois" (where timber was stored and then floated until the early 20th century). Continue along the path. It runs alongside the River Loue for 2km.
At the "Pont de Chissey" sign, follow the D93 to the right for 80m, then the track to the left. It comes close to the river, then veers right and leads to "Morte aux Nivéoles".
Continue towards "La Larine", then follow the stream to the right. Follow the D93 to the left, the D93E to the right and cross Écleux.
At the "Rue du Lion" signpost, take the road on the right to reach "Le Sausset". Turn left, cross the D472 and follow it on the right for 100m. After the bridge (demarcation line during the last war), follow the road to the left and keep to the right. At the "La Petite Biche" signpost, take the track on the right. It runs along the edge of the wood and leads to the D53 ("Au pied de l'Enclos").
Short option (13.5 km, 4h, medium level): Follow the D53 to the right, pass the "Pont de Saron" crossroads and arrive at "La Digue".
Follow the D53 left for 200m and then turn right. Turn right at the "Les grands" sign, keep left and take the road on the left. After the bridge, turn right and continue along the path which passes the foot of the Château de Clairvans (built in 1820 on the site of an old medieval building) and then winds along. Turn right at the "Les Balènes" sign. Turn left onto the D472.
Pass "Ounans" and turn right onto the D71. Pass "Rue de l'Eglise".
At the "L'Essart Monnot" sign, take the road to the right and the second track to the left. At the "Gravière Renard" sign, turn right and follow the river Loue. Follow the river to the left, pass "La Dandanne" and cross the bridge over the D53 to the right.
At the "La Digue" signpost, follow the road to the left and return to "Sur la Levée".
