Les Platières

A pretty open route through high altitude pastures from the Vie Neuve des Molunes, an area characterised by its scattered settlements.
From one valley to the next, farms and lodges are scattered around the Platières, the little roof of the Jura world! From its many viewpoints, the Haute-Chaîne du Jura and Bellecombe stretch out in all its languor, punctuated by the crêt de Chalam standing like an exclamation point!

At the corner of the AUX MOLUNES - LA VIE NEUVE stopover gîte, the route takes the path (yellow markings) which runs along the hay meadows towards Les Granges.

Without leaving the path, pass a small ridge on the left and gradually descend. The path crosses a small wood and leads to a meadow.

Take a more or less marked grassy path that descends along the ridge on the right (note on the left, an old farmhouse with a strong granary).

Go through a wood and come out on a small road. Follow this to the left as far as Les Granges.

The road on the right joins some houses in Laisia.

A stony path climbs to the right towards Les Platières. Bordered by ash trees, it rises quickly to emerge in the summit valley. Cross the coomb and go back down through the woods to the place called Les Platières.

Take the very stony path in the forest to the right (white and red markings). Access an open coomb and follow a path on the left in the pasture of Les Platières (VTT passage).

Pass a small lodge, go down into a pasture on the right (mountain bike crossing), join the west ridge.

Follow an old path, not very well marked, on the left of the valley which leads to the crossroads of Cariche.

The path (two mountain bike crossings) descends through meadows and climbs up to a beautiful farm.

Descend on a gravel path to the left. Reach a road; follow it to the right to return to the start.
