Roaming through the Haut-Jura! A 5-day hike through the Grandvaux and its lakes, waterfalls and high-altitude forests.
Arrival and departure by public transport: train and/or bus.

For this stay with accommodation and catering, we're offering 4 nights as close as possible to the Grandvalliers, who will welcome you in the best possible conditions.

You'll get around on a daily basis using the Echappée Jurassienne GR network and the paths listed in the PDIPR (Plan Départemental des Itinéraires de Promenade et de Randonnée).

We recommend that you take a hiking map of the area with you.

For each overnight stay, we recommend that you book your accommodation in advance. Please do not hesitate to contact the Haut-Jura Grandvaux Tourist Office for any further information.

Day 1 :

Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux / Grande-Rivière Château
Approximately 9 km

Previous overnight stay possible at Ferme Léonie, La Pause ô Logis or Le Champ de Mars campsite.
Head south through pastures and woods towards the hamlet of Les Jeannez,
You'll then come to a path leading through the forest and down to the hamlet of l'Abbaye en Grandvaux and its magnificent lake.
Here you can stay at the Hôtel Lou Granva, the Hôtel de l'Abbaye or the Chambre d'hôtes Entre Combe et lacs, or you can continue climbing up to Les Cernois to reach its gîte d'étape, where you'll have a breathtaking view of the Monts Jura.

Day 2 :

Grande-Rivière Château / Nanchez
Approximately 15 km

Start the day by admiring the view from the Belvédère du Moulin, which rises to an altitude of 1,000 metres and offers a panoramic view of the entire lake and surrounding area.
You'll then reach the Pré Basset sound site, where you can enjoy playing with its echo or simply put your ear to the ground to listen to the birdsong.
From here, the path leads to another lookout point, the Vierge d'Ecuvet, offering a view of the small hamlet of Château des Prés and the Monts Jura. Once you've left this landscape behind, head downhill towards the centre, crossing charming little streams and passing through a forest along the way.
Once you've arrived in the village, set your sights on the final challenge of the day: the Duchet belvedere, which offers a lovely view of the combe de Prénovel-Les Piards.
On the way back down, you can also extend your walk by discovering the Nanchez peat bog, a nature trail that introduces you to the flora and fauna of this wetland, before returning to your accommodation in the village of Nanchez.

Day 3 :

Nanchez / La Chaux-du-Dombief
Approximately 14 km

To start the day, head for the Maguenay viewpoint, which offers a magnificent view of Lac de Bonlieu surrounded by dense forest.
After skirting the lake, you'll reach the Saut Girard waterfall, the first in the series of 7 Hérisson waterfalls.
Before heading back to the Auberge du Hérisson, the Camping de l'Abbaye in Bonlieu or the Lac de Narlay campsite, enjoy the sunset at Lac d'Ilay and admire its turquoise shores and cliffs in the background.

Day 4 :

La Chaux-du-Dombief / Foncine-le-Bas
Approximately 18 km

On the penultimate day of this tour, you can start by visiting the Espace Botanique in Le Frasnois.
Then start the hike at the Pic de l'Aigle and the Belvédère des 4 lacs, 2 of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Jura. Take in the Vallée du Hérisson, the Grandvaux and the Monts Jura in all their splendour.

You'll then head off in the direction of Pont de La Chaux, skirting part of La Lemme, before returning through the valleys to the village of Les Planches-en-Montagne, where a well-maintained path awaits you to discover the impressive Gorges de la Langouette.

The river walks don't stop there: return to your accommodation along the old tramway (train) route, which is now accessible on foot or by bike, while admiring the gorges of the Saine below.

Day 5 :

Foncine-le-Bas / Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux
Approximately 12 km

Once again, you'll enjoy walks along the waterways, sometimes to admire the ruins of a mill, sometimes to discover the peat bogs along the Lemme, whose meanders have been restored over the last decade.

All that's left for you to do is head for the village of Saint Laurent and its various shops, such as the cheese dairy, to complete this escapade and return to your accommodation for a well-deserved rest.
