Dry stone path

-

The dry stone path is ideal for families. The walk is recreational, with the discovery of cabordes and murgers and splendid views over the Blois-sur-Seille retreat.

Between Blois-sur-Seille and La Marre, there is a car park by the road. The starting post for the trail is entitled "Pierre Sèche". The 3 km circuit shows two types of construction built by simply juxtaposing limestone stones taken from the fields during ploughing, without using any binding material. Ingenious!
On the one hand, the shepherds' huts or cabordes which were used by the herdsmen and farmers to shelter. And on the other hand, dry stone walls, called "murgers", which delimit the plots of pastureland where the cows and goats graze. This typical heritage of the "First Plateau", carefully preserved, remains fragile.
Along the way, the Exterpois lookout offers a remarkable view of the Blois reculée, Ladoye-sur-Seille and the entire Haute-Seille valley. The atmosphere of the hamlet of Chaumois Boivin and its gardens makes you want to stop and find out more about this famous and unique "milk carrier"...
