Gîte La Thébaïde

This gîte is located in a typical old winegrower's house in the Allonal district of Saint-Amour, an old winegrower's hamlet with its wash-house, chapel and fountains on the Revermont hillside.

The owner has spent eight years restoring the building to create a cosy gîte using noble, environmentally-friendly materials. Particular care was taken in the choice of materials and furnishings: air lime and natural organic pigments (cyprus umber, black earth from the Ardennes or Roussillon), flour paint...

The atypical kitchen and double bedroom have been completely custom-built to retain elements from the past and adapt to the layout of the premises.

In the living room, with its exposed beams and stone walls, a wood-burning stove provides gentle warmth and a cosy atmosphere.

With a surface area of 100m2 and very well equipped, you will find everything you need for a comfortable stay in all seasons at the gateway to the Jura, as a couple, solo or with the family. Four-legged friends are also welcome!

Upstairs, this charming gîte has two bedrooms, one double and one twin, ideal for two children or a second couple.

When the weather's nice, enjoy the summer evenings on the terrace around the plancha!

The house is located 1km from the town centre and 2km from Saint-Amour station. On the GR9, it can be a starting or finishing point for the Saint-Amour - Mijoux stage of the Jura. There are many walks and mountain bike rides available from the accommodation, and you can discover the cultural heritage of the area (panoramic views over the Bresse plain, the Aubépin tower and chapel, the historic centre of Saint-Amour with its royal prisons and apothecary).
