La Chalentine

For more than 20 years, Sébastien has been renovating this old Jura farmhouse, respecting its architecture and materials as far as possible. This comfortable, well-equipped house is a superb blend of traditional know-how, preservation of the old building, modernity and eco-responsibility.

The combination of stone, wood and the use of different lime renderings (whitewash, tadelakt and 'a fresco' renderings) give this cosy nest a warm ambience. Great attention to detail has been paid to every room. In the kitchen, for example, you'll find the old wall cupboard from the farm, and the old paving from the stables has been preserved as a decorative feature in the living room.

The thermal insulation is made from bio-sourced materials (hemp-lime, wood wool, cellulose wadding), the underfloor heating provides gentle, pleasant warmth from a wood pellet boiler, and the electricity is 100% renewable and cooperative.
The gîte is classified as a "Meublé de tourisme ***" and has the "Gîtes de France" label.

Situated a stone's throw from the Château du Chevreaux, with free access, you can enjoy the superb sunsets over the Bresse plain for which this historic site is famous! Ideal for family holidays, children can also play the knights of Chevreaux!

There are many walks, mountain bike rides and trail rides available from the gîte, as well as long-distance hiking routes such as the GR59 and the Via Cluny... ! Head for La Chalentine, the small mountain opposite the gîte!
