La Pinède

La Pinède has an intriguingly 'hidden' location halfway up the mountain. Its entrance (partly concealed) leads to a cabin (22 sq.m.) by means of a 'footbridge' at same level as the terrace (13 sq.m.) with panoramic view of river Ain and Ile Chambod. This rounded terrace, a kind of outdoor living room with dining area and deckchairs, faces west so has sun from noon to evening. Main room (large picture window opening onto terrace) with dining area (red bench) and kitchenette (2 ring ceramic hob, microwave oven, fridge). Private bedroom (150cm wooden bed for 2 people). Shower room & WC accessed via main living room where it is possible to have an extra bed.|On arrival you are given a kit of 'basic' products. 'Breakfast basket' can be delivered every morning, on request. Best bits: terrace, view (of course) and light filled rooms (all have windows). La Pinède is part of a 'nature' site with total of 7 cabins or lodges which blend perfectly into this forest of box trees in the heights above Serrières-sur-Ain, overhanging the river Ain. Each cabin has its own identity and is built on stilts 2 metres above ground, with totally secure access and terraces. Outstanding location in the Ain gorges: canoeing, rowing, swimming. Walking/hiking on the cliffs: GR (long distance footpath) and PR (local footpaths). Get up early and with luck and patience you may see chamois grazing on the dry turf.
