Domaine des Aronias
The Domaine des Aronias is located in Villard-sur-Ain, a hamlet in Marigny just a stone's throw from Lake Chalain. It is an organic farm (Ecocert certified) specialising in growing and processing aronia berries. Native to North America, the aronia berry is nicknamed "the berry that heals" by the Amerindians. This little-known berry is very rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and amino acids... Excellent for health, the immune system and the cardiovascular system, it is also effective in combating oxidative stress.
This is where, since 2014, two passionate growers, Diana and Michel, have been welcoming visitors and introducing them to "this little fruit" and their work. The plantation covers an area of around 5 hectares, on which around 7,000 Aronias have been planted in the space of a few years. Concerned about the quality of their products, Diana and Michel strive to keep the farm on a human scale, and apply a processing method that preserves the many properties of these small black fruits: extremely rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals... The aronia is a Superfruit, just like the gogi berry, cranberry, acai...
After the harvest, which takes place every year from August to the end of September, the produce is fully processed at the heart of this regionally unique farm. Pressed or dehydrated, the berries are packaged in the form of powder, pure juice, dried berries, jelly, herbal tea, etc. Occasionally, sweets and fruit jellies are also made on site.
On request, it is also possible to visit the plantation and discover the processing workshops set up by the farmers, before returning to the Domaine's reception area... and rounding off this highly original discovery with a tasting of fresh or processed products, depending on the season.

The Domaine des Aronias has also recently opened its doors to "France Passion" campervans.

Our little shop is open every day except Sunday from 4 to 6 pm We welcome individuals or groups (1 family at a time). Barrier gestures and without mask outside, otherwise barrier gestures and mask in the shop, hydroalcoholic gel at disposal. For those who wish to visit the plantation, the watering and dehydration systems and to have more information. We end the visit with a small tasting of our products. It is only by appointment.
