Jurabeille was established over half a century ago. Founded by Jean Verjus in the 1960s, it was then run jointly by his two sons, Jean-François and Olivier, for some thirty years. At the end of 2021, when Jean-François retired, Maxime Colombet joined Olivier Verjus. Between them, the partners produce some 20 tonnes of honey every year, from hive to packaging.
With more than 600 hives at various locations in the Jura mountains, the two beekeepers draw on their expertise to produce excellent Jura honeys - flower, acacia, lime, fir and mountain - as well as other hive products such as honey sweets, gingerbread, royal jelly (remarkable for its richness in vitamins and amino acids), pollen and propolis, both chewable and in capsule form.
As true enthusiasts, Olivier and Maxime work hard every day to perpetuate the tradition and ensure the well-being of their little workers. Acacia and flower honeys are produced at low altitude on the Jura plains, while fir, lime and mountain honeys are made from beehives on the Jura plateaux. At the start of summer, the bees are moved to the forest or mountains.
So don't delay in coming to Saffloz to discover all these delicacies in the small shop on the farm! The honey house can be visited on request. As well as being sold on the farm, Jurabeille's flagship products are also distributed in a number of outlets in the Jura and Doubs regions - delicatessens, fruit shops, supermarkets, etc.
