Ancienne Maison de Justice
Eco'lette is an association that has taken over an emblematic site in the Pays Horloger, the former Maison de Justice in Bizot. The building is made up of two parts: the Maison de Justice, dating from 1527, and its adjoining barn with a roof structure dating from the 17th century. A courthouse until the Revolution, the house has now been home to a village café for over 100 years, where residents and passers-by like to meet up for a drink and a bite to eat. The architecture of the Maison de Justice stands out from the traditional Comtois farmhouses of the Pays Horloger region, allowing us to look back to a distant past when our ancestors settled in our area. You're probably all familiar with this house if you've seen the film Monsieur Batignole, as the café scene was filmed here!
The 16th-century part of the house is listed as a historic monument. The house belongs to the L'éco'lette association, which has (re)transformed it into an eco-citizen café and offers cultural activities throughout the year.
