Barrage de Vouglans
Remarkable civil building

Barrage de Vouglans

-

Commissioned in 1968, this structure, 130 m high and 400 m wide, holds back 600 million cubic metres of water.

The reservoir stretches for 35 km, forming the Vouglans lake, the 3rd largest in France. Several parts of its banks have been developed for leisure activities and sports (Surchauffant beach and Bellecin on the west bank and Mercantine on the east bank).

The dam can no longer be visited. It can be viewed from the lookout point at Lect.
