Belvédère du Rocher de la Baume

A unique view of the Lemme valley and the Nozeroy plateau: that's the reward offered to hikers from the lookout point at the Rocher de la Baume, in Châtelneuf.

From up there (841 m), you can have fun pinpointing various villages and the Villa Palladienne (Château de Syam), which could be the subject of a future visit. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a peregrine falcon, a species that nests in the crevices of the cliffs.

The dedicated car park (Château-Parquet) is on the D40, 1km from the southern exit of Châtelneuf (towards Pont-de-la-Chaux). A 3km loop with no particular difficulties (50m difference in altitude). Hike no. 21 in the Champagnole Nozeroy Jura hiking guide.
