Canal du Moulin et Petit Doubs

-

The Canal du Moulin, also known as the Petit Doubs by the locals, is actually a branch of the Doubs that forms the main island of the town. The walk takes in both sides of the island: Grande rue, Rue du Moulin, Rue de la Velle, Parc de le Grande Ile. You'll discover this listed site and its houses suspended above the water, as well as the history of the site and the town itself. Once the capital of La Vis, L'Isle-sur-le-Doubs was home to several thousand workers. Imagine the island covered in factories, with the Canal du Moulin providing the water needed to run the machines.
