Canoeing on the Loue

Day 1
Immerse yourself in nature and culture along the river:
On arrival, you'll settle into your room at a charming collective hostel, the River Pop Hostel in Cléron. This old-fashioned house has been tastefully renovated to make your stay as pleasant as possible. After dropping off your belongings, you'll head for the starting point of your first adventure on the water. The route and safety instructions will be explained to you before you climb aboard your canoe for a completely free expedition!

A gourmet lunch between river and cliff:
Your canoe will take you gently to one of the most beautiful terraces in Ornans. Enjoy a delicious lunch with local flavours, lulled by the murmur of the water.
Then, pick up your paddle again to cross our picturesque "Little Venice of the Comtose", birthplace of the famous painter Gustave Courbet. You'll glide past his museum, then continue down the Loue to the heart of its rich industrial heritage. Remains of mills and forges and elegant manor houses bear witness to the valley's fascinating past. Proudly overlooking the Loue, the majestic Château de Cléron marks the end of your day's journey. You will then return to your accommodation for a well-deserved moment of relaxation and conviviality!
For dinner, discover our selection of restaurants (list on request) or take advantage of a barbecue kit (equipment, selection of meats and raw vegetables, ¼ litre of wine, ½ litre of water, one hot drink for 28 euros per person with a minimum of 6 people).


Day 2
Wild adventure and enchanted picnic in the heart of the valley :
After a good night's sleep lulled by the surrounding calm, a hearty and invigorating breakfast will await you before you meet up with your faithful travelling companion: your canoe. This descent will reveal the wildest and most unspoilt face of the Vallée de la Loue. There are no villages here, just lush countryside where the river meanders peacefully and a few traditional farms with their ancestral mills punctuate this timeless journey. You'll be transported to a world of charm and serenity, where the reflections of the sky in the crystal-clear water and the dance of the dragonflies will lull you to sleep.
At lunchtime, you'll make a gourmet stop on a small, secluded pebble beach. There, in the heart of unspoilt nature, you'll enjoy the authentic flavours of our region represented in your picnic. The lapping of the water and the song of the birds will be your gentle melody.
After around 22 kilometres of gentle gliding, you'll reach the outskirts of the village of Chenecey-Buillon. Your shuttle will be waiting for you for a comfortable return journey. Will you succumb to the temptation to extend this enchanted interlude and explore even further the unique treasures and sensations of our Valley?
