Château de Rignat ou château Pinel
Bought in 1422 by Claude du Saix, a great local lord, the castle passed to various families two centuries later, notably through marriage to François Viard de Pimelle, who gave the name "Château Pinel" by deformation.
All that remains of the original building is the square keep, which still looks good despite the mutilations of history and time. Its walls are three metres thick at the base and are flanked by four corner towers. Inside, the room known as the "guards' room" has a vast 15th or 16th century fireplace. Some other medieval vestiges, such as a spiral staircase, doors with a pointed arch, vaults on ribbed crossings, part of the old wall walk and even the layout of the bailey.
