Demeure de Monte au Lever
At the top of a hill overlooking the Lake of Saint Point, at an altitude of 1000m, in the heart of a meadow bordering the forest: three buildings inspired by regional architecture. Private listed historic monument.
Interior and exterior decoration of a large house and its outbuilding, designed in 1910 by Auguste Morisot, architect and painter, professor of Fine Arts in Lyon, for Louis Neyron (1856-1917), a textile industrialist from Lyon, who wished to reunite his large family every summer. The house is owned by the great-grandson of the founder who lives there all year round and whose wife gives guided tours.
Themes of the visit: panorama on the Lake of Saint Point, architecture, and decoration inspired by the genius C. R. Mackintosh. Art deco, regional history (carved stones from the 13°-17° centuries), arts and crafts (cabinet making, ironwork), outdoor visit in the park, visit of a part of the big house and the outbuilding (exhibition).
