ENS - La Motte du Château

Climb the Motte du Château, considered by geologists to be a "test mound", where time has eroded away the softer limestone plateau to leave only this rocky mound, the only survivor of the ancient relief.
Comprising marl grasslands, ponds, woodland and the ruins of a medieval castle, this site is a great way to discover both the natural and historical heritage of Montrond-le-Château.

A walk around the motte féodale (feudal mound) equipped with signposts (about 1 hour 30 minutes, or 3.8 km) is a great way to discover this remarkable ENS site. There is also a walk (6.4 km, or 2hrs 15mins) through the local heritage.
