THE HEART OF THE JURA IN THREE FLAVOURS: WINE, SALT AND COMTÉ CHEESE
An all-inclusive holiday for the curious and gourmets between Arbois, Poligny and Salins-les-Bains, combining emblematic visits, authentic gastronomy and traditions.
Day 1: Poligny & Arbois - Terroir and heritage
Your adventure begins in Poligny, the capital of Comté cheese. You'll visit the Maison du Comté, a modern, immersive museum where you'll discover all the secrets of this emblematic cheese, from the meadow to the maturing cellar.
Afterwards, head to Poligny town centre to discover the historic centre of an ancient fortified town on a guided tour led by the Tourist Office.
At lunchtime, enjoy a Comté fondue in the Melting Potes, a local restaurant with a warm, modern atmosphere.
In the afternoon, head for Arbois, a charming wine-growing town and the birthplace of Louis Pasteur. Visit the Maison Pasteur, which has remained intact since the 19th century, and immerse yourself in the intimate world of the famous scientist.
At the end of the day, check into your Logis Les Cépages hotel in Arbois. Regional dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Arbois & Salins-les-Bains - Jura wines and historic salt
After a hearty breakfast, the morning begins with a tasting of Jura wines in a local cellar. Savagnin, vin jaune, macvin... unique aromas to discover in a warm atmosphere, accompanied by a mâchon jurassien, a traditional snack served à la bonne franquette.
Then it's on to Salins-les-Bains, the old salt-making town. Lunch in the restaurant will be at the Grand Hôtel des Bains, an old building that once adjoined the original salt works. You will then visit the spectacular Grande Saline, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its underground gallery and historic buildings that bear witness to thousands of years of salt-making know-how.
The tour ends in the middle of the afternoon
