The Noirmont mountain range straddles the border between France and Switzerland, reaching an altitude of 1540m. Its summit is in Switzerland, so always bring your identity papers with you. From the summit, you can enjoy a 360° view of the surrounding mountains and landscape, including the Alps, Mont Blanc and the Lake Geneva valley.

Hiking:
There are two signposted walks to discover this viewpoint. Route descriptions can be purchased from the Tourist Office or downloaded:

In winter:
The Noirmont massif, located between the villages of Les Rousses and Bois d'Amont, enjoys plenty of sunshine and a superb view of Lac des Rousses and the resort from its summit. Anecdote:
The Noirmont ski lift: when the ski lifts were built on this massif, a ski lift posed a problem for the Swiss customs authorities. It started out on French soil but ended up on Swiss territory. A stop button was installed at the border crossing to allow customs officers to stop the ski lifts at any time and carry out identity checks. The slopes between France and Switzerland were ideal for transporting illegal goods...
