Le tilleul de Sully d'Ordonnaz : arbre remarquable
For the record, this remarkable tree, which is over 4 centuries old, originally had a twin. They were planted on either side of the church. Unfortunately, a storm during the First World War destroyed one of them. It was replanted in 1919, but has yet to reach the heights of its elder. As for the venerable surviving lime tree, it is the object of attentive care.
Sully trees are rare, and the Bugey region is lucky enough to have two of them, in two villages just a few kilometres apart (Ordonnaz and Innimond). Their rarity and age raise many questions...
What does a 17th century minister have to do with a Bugey tree? Why is it planted in the church square? Why is it a lime tree?
