Directed by Anne Tanguy, the 2 Scenes were born from the fusion of the Théâtre de l'Espace, located in the heart of a priority district of Besançon, and the Théâtre musical, located in the city centre. The first, which became L'Espace, has 2 modular spaces with 400 and 120 seats, the second, Théâtre Ledoux, has a 1,000-seat Italian-style theatre. The whole is completed by Le Kursaal, which hosts an "art et essai" film programme. Far from being an obstacle, this spatial distribution echoes the desire to circulate audiences, to stir up aesthetics and to agitate ideas within a conurbation of 200,000 inhabitants. The challenge is also to multiply the times of encounter between artists and audiences, in the theatre or in the field, to make theatre a collective experience.
