Les maisons d’architectes par et pour eux-mêmes entre le XVIIIe et le XIXe siècle
Architects' houses built by themselves for their own residences do not always stand out from the crowd of ordinary private homes, particularly in terms of their size. But on closer inspection, their façades often convey a message about the architect's doctrine, profession or tastes, in other words, a surplus of symbols or signs that are often absent elsewhere.
What's more, as these are not anonymous residences, we sometimes know how the premises were occupied.
A tour of 7 houses built by architects from the early 18th century to the end of the 19th century is available to help you discover the homes in which they worked and lived.
