The Royal Saltworks opened a bookshop/store in May 1984 under the direction of Richard Edwards. Designed in the former courtyard of the Guards by two architects, J. Aubert and F. Montès in a modern style, the bookshop creates a surprising contrast with the establishment.
With architecture, urban planning and prospective studies as its main sections, it was the first provincial bookshop specialising in architecture and the second in France. The bookshop/shop was born directly out of the Saline's cultural and scientific project. It remains anchored in its original themes corresponding to the experience of the visit and the image that the monument reflects, and then offers a wide range of articles and books on philosophy, science, gardens and the arts.
