Patrimoine du village de Marignieu

-

The church of Marignieu has been attached to the parish of Flaxieu since 1801. The date of construction is not known; it could date from the 12th century according to some, more likely from the 14th century according to others. It was restored in 1971. It consists of a three-bay nave with a French ceiling and a vaulted choir. To the left of the altar is a small room which may have been a chapel and which now serves as a sacristy. During renovation work, 19th century paintings were uncovered.

In the middle of the woods, 1.5km from the hamlet of Poirin, is a small chapel. The façade still reads "the inhabitants of Poirin, 1829". It is a small, simple building with a pointed arch door and five bays. A statue of Our Lady of Poirin is inside.
Behind this chapel is a metal calvary, called the Calvary of Poirin. This calvary stands on a stone mound several metres high.

In the clearing of Poirin there is a stone altar where mass is still celebrated on 16 August.

A beautiful wash-house is located at the exit of Marignieu: it has been restored and is covered with flat tiles. There is another in Poirin.

To the west of the village is a work that was used for shoeing oxen.
