Pierre Enon
Near Arinthod is a magnificent cirque, that of Vogna. It was carved out of the limestone by the glacier that covered the Jura during the Riss glaciation
When the glacier in the cirque disappeared, it left behind a large boulder, the Pierre Enon. This erratic block is located at the eastern edge of the cirque, a few dozen meters from the cliff. It is possible that this boulder was detached from the rock face when the ice retreated and landed on the edge of the ice tongue. It would have taken its current place when the glacier disappeared
This block has a cubic shape and is placed on one of its points. It is about 8 m high and 6 m wide
Its name would come from the Celtic "hénon" or the Greek "henos" which would mean old man.
