A little history...
In 1936, the town of Saint-Amour built baths and showers as well as a swimming pool, the first in the Jura! The Olympic-size pool was 33 metres long and 16 metres wide, with water heights ranging from 80 centimetres
to 2.75 metres. The pool was equipped with a 5-metre high diving board with 4 levels, a 3-metre springboard and a 1-metre springboard.
Swimming became a popular sport and Saint-Amour's swimmers were reputed to be the best in Franche-Comté. Water polo was also one of the town's leading specialities. The Cercle des nageurs de Saint-Amour made a name for itself between 1947 and 1964. Between 1974 and 1975, the swimming pool, which had fallen into disrepair, was completely refurbished. The new pool was inaugurated in August 1974. It comprises two pools, a competition pool (25m) and a learning pool, as well as a paddling pool.
The Cercle des Nageurs et des Amis de la piscine organises a wide range of activities and aquagym and swimming lessons throughout the summer.
