Plateau d'Arnans
Ideally situated, like a "Celtic oppidum", surrounded by cliffs, it offers splendid views of the Chartreuse de Sélignac, the castrum of Mt-Didier, Aromas, Montfleur,
the Toulongeon valley, Mt-Nivigne, the Jura crests and the Alps. In the past, the road from Bourg to Thoirette crossed it, but today it is diverted by Corveissiat.
To see: Calvary, architecture of the houses, belvedere of the Chartreuse.
Charterhouse of Sélignac
In a valley between Simandre and Corveissiat sits this noble building. It was built by the Lords of Coligny, who, before leaving for the crusades (around 1200), were concerned about their own salvation.
From 1211 to 2009, Carthusian monks lived in Sélignac.
Today, lay people offer seminars "in the silence of the Charterhouse". www.selignac.chartreux.org
