The Vauchère spring has been used for a very long time, as shown by the cut stone blocks (undetermined period).
"Le Clos de la Vauchère" and "La source de la Vauchère" are place names of Burgundian Germanic origin.
sus from "walaharius" which means "the warrior of the battlefield" from "vala": battlefield and "harja": warrior. The presence of springs and caves suggests that this is one of the oldest inhabited places in the commune.
The bottom of the valley surrounded by rocks could perfectly serve as a shelter. The name "de la Roche" takes up the pre-Celtic name "Rocca".
In the "Balade & patrimoine" collection, discover a small hidden recess at the foot of the village of Courmangoux. In summer, it is cooler than usual. To see: washhouse, spring, windmill monument.
