Square Lalande

This space is organised around the statue of the astronomer Jérôme de Lalande. The bust is placed on an imposing pedestal by Alphonse Muscat presenting Urania, the muse of astronomy. Note the stars, the globe and the signs of the Zodiac as well as an astronomical telescope. The space is surrounded by silver lime trees. A rare honey locust tree with fearsome thorns casts its light shadow over the monument.
