On Courbet's land on an electric tandem
Escape for a weekend on an electric tandem and admire the beauty of the landscapes that inspired the painter Gustave Courbet. Discover the cultural heritage at your own pace and stop off at our producers along the way! A true escapade between adventure and complicity. You'll enjoy... - The pleasure of cycling together. - The natural beauty of the source of the Lison. - The combination of nature, culture and the flavours of the Franche-Comté region.
This two-day itinerary will allow you to discover the magnificent landscapes of the Loue and Lison valleys together on your tandem! Your pace will be punctuated by unmissable stops! You'll pedal through villages and small country lanes with the help of a road book detailing your route.
And where to sleep? You'll stop off at the gîte "Les Repaires", where you'll enjoy a traditional Franc-Comtois meal in a convivial setting.
Programme :
Day #1: 44 Km - altitude difference +404-532 m
Nature as painted by Courbet
Briefing, roadbook and tandem in hand, you're ready to set off on your escapade to discover the landscapes painted by Courbet (note that some landscapes are not accessible by tandem, which must be left securely at the entrance to the trail).
From Trépot to Ornans, you'll take the voie verte, a pleasant gentle slope through the forest, with smooth asphalt (at both ends) and a smooth gravel surface in between.
Arriving in Ornans, you can take time to stroll through the town where the painter was born, admire its houses on the River Loue and visit its museum (free admission).
Continue on to the source of the river Lison and enjoy the magnificent scenery, belvederes, wide open fields and picturesque villages such as Cléron, where you can discover the Musée du Tacot (free admission)!
Your senses will be on alert as you listen to the sound of steeples and trickling water, and your eyes will enjoy the green of the valley as you travel along roads that will ensure your peace and quiet, despite some stretches being a little busier.
When you arrive in Nans-sous-Sainte-Anne, you'll be welcomed at the Auberge des Repaires for a convivial evening over a dinner (main course/salad, cheese, dessert) with a local flavour.
Day #2: 55 km - Difference in altitude +594-466m
The many facets of the Lison
When you wake up in the morning, the sunshine may allow you to enjoy breakfast on the terrace. Before heading up the Lison valley, you can meet Florian, who will take you on a tour of his mushroom production cellars (weekday option only: +€5 per person)! You can visit the Musée de la Taillanderie and the world of blacksmiths (one free entry)! And don't forget to take a romantic photo at the foot of the Lison waterfall, a source of magnificent colours!
You'll wander along the paths of Cussey-sur-Lison and its backstreet before changing scenery completely and returning along the Loue, where you'll discover the view of the Châtillon forges from the fish pass, the mystical old abbey and the picturesque houses.
It's time to take a short break and enjoy a picnic by the water in the village of Chenecey-Buillon.
Through a pleasant forest, you'll head back in the direction of Montrond-le-Château before reaching the plateau! A real maze of little forest paths! Can you find your way back to Mamirolle?
