In 1690, the Marquis Froissard de Broissia, Master of Requests at the Franche-Comté Parliament, created the "Maison du bon pasteur", a religious establishment for young women. In 1739, Nicolas Nicole (1702-1784), a famous architect from Bisontin, designed the chapel for the establishment. The Greek cross plan and the concave façade of the building were inspired by the church of Saint Agnes in Argona by the architect Francesco Borromini, located in Rome's famous Piazza Navona.
