Via Ferrata de la Guinguette
There are also magnificent views that only climbers can admire.
Head for the Ain mountains between Lyon and Geneva to discover the via ferrata at Hostiaz. There are two routes to choose from:
Parcours des buis:
You'll be gaining height, and there will be a few sensations, but it will be gentle and gradual. We'll take the boxwood route, ideal for a first approach to the activity, but with the sporting and adventure aspect retained.
You'll take an easy route through the boxwoods, with some magnificent views. This part of the route allows you to learn how to use lanyards in complete tranquillity. Then either take the escape route or continue along the rocky section to reach a footbridge and exit. Some vertiginous passages are to be expected.
The cave route:
With this route, you get straight to the heart of the matter, with a short passage on a cable through the void. This is followed by a ladder descent, a passage over a beam and an arrival on a terrace where you can admire the view. Then an easier but very aerial section takes you to the junction of the boxwood route. There are two options: either continue on the large cliff or exit via the escape routes.
This is a more challenging route, with more thrills than the boxwoods.
But be careful! The via-ferrata is not to be underestimated, and no matter how difficult it is, it is classed as a high-risk activity. If it's your first time, it's highly recommended that you call in a professional: he or she will give you the right advice and ensure your safety throughout the route.
