Château de Chevreaux
Chevreaux Castle is also the story of the incredible ongoing work of the Friends of Chevreaux Châtel association to rebuild the site with the help of various archaeological and international projects and talented craftsmen: stonecutters, ironworkers and blacksmiths.
Situated in the foothills of the Jura mountains, Chevreaux castle is perched on a promontory 470 m above sea level. It already existed in 1158, and since then several families have succeeded one another. In 1637, the French army completely destroyed the site. The castle lay in ruins.
Since 1990, the Association des Amis de Chevreaux Châtel has been working with volunteers on international workcamps to restore the site and bring it back to life. International and archaeological work camps for young volunteers are organised every year. It's an incredible human adventure and a great way to meet people!
Free admission and free visits to the site all year round.
