Built between 1877 and 1879, it is one of the key components of the Lomont defensive mole.
The Les Roches battery was manned by 246 men (6 officers, 16 non-commissioned officers, 224 soldiers and an infirmary for 10 patients).
The fort is made up of several parts: the battery entrance, barracks, bakery, gunpowder magazine, double caponier, magazine under rock and an optical post, which ensured communication with the Mont-Bart fort.
Its altitude of 614 m makes it a must-see in Pont-de-Roide Vermondans. It offers a panoramic view of the Doubs valley (orientation table and Instagrammable photo spot), a visit to a historic building and the chance to go climbing and hiking.
> Vehicle access via the D124 from Pont-de Roide, Fort des Roches.
