Le château Montbéliard Wurtemberg

Built on a rocky promontory, the stronghold was already there in the 10th century and has been constantly transformed over the centuries. All that remains of the castle, built in the 15th and 16th centuries, are two massive towers topped by a lantern, the Henriette Tower, the Frédéric Tower and the main building. All the other elements were demolished to make way for buildings in the classical style. A beautiful wrought iron gate, the work of Jean Messagier (1920-1999), closes the porch leading to the Henriette Tower.

The château houses a museum that tells the story of the Montbéliard region, from prehistory to the present day. Its former kitchens, superb vaulted rooms that have been very well restored, house a historical tour. Closed for works.
