Abbaye et cloître de Montbenoit

Situated in the Saugeais Republic, Montbenoît Abbey, founded in the 12th century by the Sire de Joux, is the best-preserved medieval religious complex in the Doubs.
It boasts 42 remarkable carved wooden stalls, a 12th and 15th century cloister, chapels and a monks' kitchen. Since 2017, a visit to the Musée de la République du Saugeais has been included with a tour of the Abbey.
Guided tours every day in July and August and unguided tours the rest of the year during Tourist Office opening hours.

Special opening conditions :

Masks must be worn (can be purchased on site). Maximum 40 people per guided tour or at the same time on a self-guided tour of the monument. Health pass required since August 9th.
