Built in the 19th century (1861) on the plans of the architect Louis Girod on the initiative of the parish priest Lallemand to thank the Virgin Mary for not having allowed Pontarlier to be affected by a cholera epidemic.
Located outside the old ramparts, this small neo-Gothic building dominates the town on the site of an ancient fortification from the High Middle Ages and is crowned by a statue of the Virgin by the sculptor Favier.
