Église de Rosay
Originally, the church at Rosay was part of the parish of Châtel, but had already been dismembered by 1310. The inhabitants had built a church in their village, which was under the patronage of the Grand Chamberlain of Gigny as Prior of Châtel, and was part of the archpriesthood of Coligny in the diocese of Lyon.
It is and has always been dedicated to Saint Peter and Saint Paul, the apostles, and consists of a bell tower, a pointed-vaulted nave, a choir and two chapels. It is Romanesque in style.
The porch has a date carved into the stone, which might seem to correspond to the construction of the church, but not at all. It is similar to the date on the church bell, which is therefore quite old (1826) and weighs over 760 kg.
In the Gazette Rosalienne of June 2023, the town hall put out a call for volunteers to become the "future bell ringer of Rosay", as the bell is not yet automated but is in the process of becoming so. The mayor, who used to ring bells for deaths, christenings, weddings and natural disasters, can no longer do so because the church's roof structure can no longer bear the load.
The Town Hall has contacted a company to install an automatic hammer that will ring the bell automatically.
