Église Saint-Martin
This church was built in the 15th century on the site of a Gallo-Roman temple.
The church was recently restored between 2021 and 2023, and the exhibition on display will give you an insight into the major works undertaken (roofing, roofing, exterior, restoration of paintings, etc.).
Discover four large canvases adorning the choir, painted in 1897 by Abbé Moirod, a child of Nanc and a pupil of Puvis de Chavannes. These paintings evoke the local cult of Notre-Dame de Bon Rencontre.
A copy of the 16th-century statuette depicting the legend of Notre-Dame de Bon Rencontre is also on display.
You can also admire a wealth of Gothic furnishings, including paintings on wood.
This low, massive church is situated on a promontory, so it can be admired from afar. Take the footpath between Nanc-lès-Saint-Amour (rue de l'Ange) and Cessia (rue du centre): from here, you can enjoy beautiful views of the church, the château, the Clos Sainte-Marie, the Mairie and the plain.
