The Church of Saint Nicolas, a masterpiece of the flamboyant gothic style of the Comtois, has stood since the 15th century at the foot of the hill where the castle of the Abbots of Saint Claude was built. Inside, the visitor can discover several interesting and unique pieces:
- a 16th century piéta, listed as a Historic Monument
- two large altarpieces in each nave
- the statues of the Holy Virgin and Saint Joseph sculpted by a Jura artist, Bourgeois, in 1850
- the wooden Christ sculpted by Jacques Rosset of Saint-Claude in 1809.
In addition, eight stalls taken from the former Carthusian monastery of Vaucluse can be admired, as well as the stained glass windows with flamboyant frames, a beautiful little masterpiece in their style. Finally, the visit ends with the baptismal font sculpted by Roland Forestier in the 19th century.
It is open to the public.
