Lac de Narlay

-

Narlay lake is one of the 4 lakes that make up the plateau of the same name, along with Ilay, Petit Maclu and Grand Maclu lakes. Nestling in the heart of the Jura, it is a natural jewel that fascinates visitors with its beauty and mystery. Situated at an altitude of 748 metres, this natural lake of glacial origin covers an area of 41 hectares, offering an enchanting spectacle for nature lovers. Nicknamed "the black lake" because of the depth of its waters, which can reach up to 40 metres, it is a remarkable site.

The banks of the lake offer an idyllic setting for walkers, mountain bikers and anglers. The lake's rich aquatic fauna, particularly trout and perch, makes it a popular spot for fishing enthusiasts. For walkers, there is a signposted path around the lake, offering spectacular views of the water and surrounding countryside. Finally, a small nature campsite has been set up on the banks of the lake, so you can take your time and enjoy the place even more.

Lac de Narlay is also surrounded by local legends, adding a touch of mystery to its natural charm. These stories, passed down from generation to generation, contribute to the tourist appeal of this exceptional Jura site.

A remarkable site, classified as a Natura 2000 and Ramsar site "Peat bogs and lakes of the Jura mountains", Lake Narlay, like all 4 lakes, welcomes a huge number of visitors. To preserve the balance of the site and its natural heritage, a voluntary tranquillity zone has been set up from 15 April to 15 September (in brown on the map). This limits disturbance to animal species during the breeding and rearing season, prevents trampling and preserves the tranquillity of the various natural environments.

Please respect the area and help us to preserve the environment: stay on the marked footpaths, keep your dog on a lead, don't pick flowers, don't make fires, don't swim, and remember that camping and bivouacking are prohibited throughout the area.

Possible activities :
Hiking (tour of the 4 lakes) and mountain biking (tour of the 5 lakes), cycling (loops 12 and 6), horse riding, activities and entertainment on offer during the holidays...
Swimming is prohibited.
