La maison du bois et de la forêt

The Maison du Bois et de la Forêt, created in 1993, is a museographic space located in the heart of the Cité du Bois in Mouchard, where two renowned schools teaching wood trades are located side by side. One is the state-run Lycée des Métiers du Bois, while the other is the Institut des Compagnons du Tour de France, a public school.
This museum showcases the wood industry through a 250m2 exhibition area featuring machines, tools, over 450 samples of wood species from all over the world, a workshop from the 1940s that is still in operation, and a host of explanatory panels and old photos.
