The permanent exhibition shows the career of an academic sculptor through the works of Jean-Joseph Perraud from the Jura, winner of the Prix de Rome in 1847. The sculptures of his pupil, Max Claudet, who turned to the realist movement, and those of his contemporaries, offer a broad panorama of 19th century statuary art.
The collection of paintings offers works with various themes from the 16th to the 19th century, from the French, Italian and Nordic schools. Masterpieces by Pieter Brueghel the Younger and Gustave Courbet punctuate this presentation.
Two rooms, including the heritage area of the former library, are devoted to temporary exhibitions, which present the archaeological and natural science collections in rotation each year.
