The Jura butter-making cooperative and multiple winner of the Fromonval de Mamirolle professional competition for its butter with character. Founded in 1945, the company now brings together a whopping 37 dairy cooperatives, all located in the Comté AOC zone: fruit producers from the "Plateau" who have joined forces to pool their cream and produce a traditional butter... and what a butter it is! It's top quality, made from cream from the Jura mountains and guaranteed GMO-free. Over 700 tonnes of butter are produced every year by a team of 6 employees.
Collected twice a week, the cream is first pasteurised to eliminate all traces of bacteria, then matured in the traditional way, allowing the typical flavours of "Nozeroy butter" to develop without any added flavourings or colourings!
The cream is then churned and transformed into butter, which is then shaped into different forms - cubes and lumps for professionals, and blocks for consumers. Although the cooperative does not sell its products direct, they are sold in the surrounding Comté cheese dairies, as well as in many other shops in the region, listed on the cooperative's website.
