Les Fromageries du Revermont was born from the merger in 1989 of the cooperatives of Coligny, Treffort and St Etienne du Bois. At that time, the "hay" milk was transformed into Comté and Emmental Grand Cru in Treffort and Coligny and the "silage" milk into Emmental in Coligny.
In 1990, the Balanod cooperative joined the three other cooperatives and gradually replaced the Coligny workshop, which closed.
In 1998, the cooperative finally stopped making Emmental cheese in St Etienne du Bois. A retail store was kept until 1999.
The workshops of Balanod and Treffort continue the production, essentially, of Comté cheese until February 2013, when the production stops in Treffort.
The store remains open and now sells the products made in Balanod.
