Fruitière Les Rebelles
In the heart of Foncine-le-Haut, the Fromagerie des Rebelles owes its name to the farmers who decided, in 2007, to regain their independence and directly manage their cheese-making cooperative.
Eight farms located around the dairy produce quality milk in a responsible and environmentally-friendly way. The Montbéliardes graze peacefully for most of the year in pastures close to the farms, feeding on natural fodder. Every evening, their milk is collected, taken to the cooperative and processed according to the rules of the art. Every day, the Fromagerie des Rebelles produces around ten wheels of Comté cheese.
The cooperative's shop is well worth a visit in its own right! Completely renovated a few years ago, it showcases the Jura region in the best possible way, with a wide selection of regional products. The shop assistants will help you choose from a wide range of products, each more appetising than the last: the inevitable Comté (sweet, fruity or extra), Morbier, plain or mustard raclette, Jura pressed tommes and many other cheeses typical of the region, such as "Le Petit Mournier"! Wine, apple juice, honey and jams, all from the region, are also available to accompany the cheeses in the shop.
The dairy has won numerous awards for the quality of its work, including a silver medal in 2010 and 2016 and a bronze medal in 2017 for Comté fruité at the Salon de l'Agriculture in Paris.
