The Grande Traversée du Jura on snowshoes: a special route adapted to snowshoes! Weave your way between 2 spruce trees to emerge into a clearing, a vast combe with a view of the Monts Jura in the distance. The relief softens with the snow. Snow conditions : Winter walks are evolving. There are times when certain stages of this itinerary can be done on foot with snowshoes on your rucksack! The holiday is first and foremost a hiking holiday and if there is no snow, we will not cancel bookings. Even if you can't put on snowshoes, you'll enjoy the atmosphere and light of winter. The winter route of the GTJ sometimes crosses wet areas that are not passable without snow. We indicate in the route booklet the route to follow to avoid them; it is often a small road. The mountains are very different in winter. The colours are not the same as in summer and the sun is lower on the horizon, offering sunset lights throughout the day.
Level: For contemplative walkers.
Level 2 hikers on a scale of 5.
An undulating or mountain route with an average ascent and descent of 200 metres. The stages are short, so that whatever the snow conditions and your level of fitness, you'll be able to do them in complete peace of mind. You can also take a break at lunchtime in one of the mountain huts or visit the museums in the villages you pass through.
