Lac de Vouglans
Vouglans Lake is 35 km long, and is France’s third largest reservoir.
The dam wall was built in 1968, flooding the Ain valley.
The sad fate of the flooded villages like Chartreuse de Vaucluse have almost been forgotten when we consider the peaceful turquoise lake that today is a paradise for swimming, fishing, walking and water sports.
Not to be missed: Vouglans dam wall, 3 ports, 3 beaches with lifeguards and facilities, electric boat hire (without licence), canoes and a commentated boat trip on "Le Louisiane".
Hike around the lake in any direction.
