Les viaducs de Morez - la Ligne des Hirondelles

-

Inaugurated in 1900, the section of line between Champagnole and Morez required the construction of no less than six viaducts, including three on the mountainside and three tunnels to connect the two Gare de Morbier (located at 861m above sea level) and Morez ( located at an altitude of 736m).

The Morez viaduct is listed as a historic monument. The architect of this viaduct is Paul Séjourné. It is located at the exit of the Morez station, on the section of the line from Morez to Saint-Claude. It is a curved viaduct 203 m long which spans the valley of the Evalude at a height of 40 m. It is the most imposing viaduct.
