Immersed in the heart of the Haute-Chaîne du Jura National Nature Reserve, the La Vattay Nordic centre is now one of the largest Nordic areas in France, with an international reputation. This Nordic area, regularly trodden by the great champions, offers breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, as well as the Jura plateau, stretching as far as the eye can see!
For your comfort, you'll find all the facilities you need for cross-country skiing, including lockers, toilets and showers, and a non-sac room. A sports hire shop and a restaurant-bar will welcome you all season long in the heart of the centre.
La Vattay is one of the most accessible Nordic ski areas from the airport (Geneva) or the TGV stations (Valserhône or Geneva). If you're coming by car, there's a huge free car park with 500 spaces in front of the centre.
La Vattay has been awarded the "Site d'Excellence" (3 fir trees) label by Nordic France. It is renowned for the quality and variety of its runs... On the programme: more than 10 loops, from green to black, for skiing to suit all abilities!
This ski area, entirely dedicated to Nordic skiing, stretches from the Plateau de la Vattay down to the Valserine valley, on the banks of the river. Here, you can enjoy skating or alternative skiing in an unspoilt environment. You can also discover biathlon at La Vattay, thanks to introductory courses run by local ski schools.
The Valserine ski area, attached to the village of Mijoux, also offers 3 great runs. You can ski along the river and get away from it all in the heart of the valley!
- 130 km of Nordic ski runs.
Do you like hiking? Then try out the Balcons du Léman at the Monts Jura resort!
From Mont-Rond to Le Reculet, via Crêt de la Neige, the highest peak in the Jura massif, and Colomby de Gex, you'll discover wild nature (Haute Chaîne du Jura National Nature Reserve) and breathtaking scenery.
Local guides offer themed outings that are accessible to all, to introduce you to a sporty and fun way of cycling, or to introduce you to new routes.
Well-maintained, signposted itineraries are available from La Vattay, La Faucille, the villages of Mijoux and Lélex and from the cable car arrivals (la Catheline, le Fierney, les Bergers, le Val Mijoux and le Mont-Rond). Throughout the Monts Jura resort, you can choose between skiing and snowshoeing!
- 50 km of marked snowshoe trails
The various areas of the Monts Jura resort have 6 tobogganing areas for you to enjoy to your heart's content...
At Menthières, the play area, designed for children and adults, is served by a conveyor belt. There is a charge for access to the carpet. At the Col de la Faucille and at the arrival of the Crozet cable car, there are play areas for children, groomed and maintained daily. The difference in altitude is slight over a length of 50 m. The one at Mijoux, just outside the village, is 150m long. In Lélex, there are two slopes for young and old to enjoy, one in the village and the other at the arrival point of the cable car (access to the cable car is subject to a charge).
For all these sledging areas, you can bring your own sledges or hire them from the sports shops available in each area of the resort.
